The mycelium grows through the straw at lightning speed, and you can see the pot gradually turning white, until something magical happens under the lid! In the video you can see how that happens and what you have to do. English version of the video coming soon, see description below for the translation of the steps.
-
Let the mycelium grow through the jar
A few days after starting the mycelium will visibly begin growing. It takes a total of 10 to 14 days for the entire jar to be grown through completely. When the mycelium has also covered the straw under the lid, you are ready for the next step. -
Leave the lid ajar
By leaving the lid ajar, so without closing the clip, fresh air will reach the mycelium. This will trigger it to form mushrooms. -
Check every day for baby mushroom formation
Look under the lid every day from now on. No baby mushrooms yet? Then leave the lid ajar again. Be patient for a few days, but then suddenly it's like they appear out of nowhere. It has begun! -
Open the lid or remove it from the jar
As soon as you see baby mushrooms, open the lid all the way, or take it off the jar so it can't fall off either. Now the fast-growing mushrooms will get all the space they need. -
Let the mushrooms mature
Take a closer look at those sweet little baby mushrooms, because they grow up very quickly. They double in size every day, and you can harvest after 4 to 5 days. If you don't harvest them (on time), they will dry out, but they will remain perfectly edible! -
Harvesting and cooking
You harvest the mushrooms by grabbing the entire bouquet and gently pulling it loose. You can also loosen the bouquet with a twisting motion, or simply cut it off along the edge of the pot with a knife. They are best eaten fresh, for example to make our Shroomkebab!
